Sustainable Tree Milling In Hawai‘i

We reduce wood waste across Hawaiʻi by accepting donations of locally felled trees and offering reclaimed wood slabs for sale at Our Store.

Every Tree Has a Story — Don’t Let It End as Waste

Hawai‘i’s trees hold decades of stored energy — from sunlight, water, and nutrients to the labor that turns them into building materials. When trees are chipped or landfilled, all that energy is lost. Through our Tree Milling Program, we reclaim that embodied energy by giving each tree a new purpose.

Our team will assess and collect eligible trees, transforming them into greenwood slabs for the community.

The Value of Carbon Capture In Tree Milling

A large, polished wood table with natural, uneven edges sits in a warehouse or store. Behind the table, there is a shopping cart and shelves with various other furniture pieces and materials.

What Is Carbon Capture?

Hawaiʻi’s urban trees store decades of captured carbon, and when they’re chipped or mulched, that carbon is released back into the atmosphere far too quickly.

Milling them locally gives the material a second life—while also avoiding the high embodied energy burden of importing lumber from thousands of miles away. Through our Tree Milling Program, we create beautiful, locally sourced wood products that lower environmental impact, strengthen local resilience, and keep more of Hawai‘i’s resources in Hawai‘i.

Local Environmently Impact

  • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions by preventing tree decomposition which release stored carbon.

  • Preserves carbon sinks, allowing milled wood to continue storing carbon long-term in usable products.

  • Decreases demand for virgin lumber, reducing deforestation and its associated carbon footprint.

Quality of Life

  • Cleaner air from preserved trees improves respiratory health and overall well-being.

  • Protecting Hawai‘i’s wood supply to ensure future generations have access to local materials.

  • Each reused tree keeps carbon out of the atmosphere and supports a climate-resilient Hawai‘i.

Shared Sustainable Practices

  • Extend the life of your slab by ensuring to following our simple care guidelines.

  • Your purchase helps sustain local resources, reduce waste, and inspire mindful building.

  • Help the environment by reducing demand for imported lumber and preserving valuable trees.
