Turning Hawaiʻi’s Waste Into Affordable Community Resources

A non-profit giving second chances to people and materials.

About Us

Re-use Hawai‘i is a non-profit employment social enterprise dedicated to reducing waste and expanding green job opportunities. Through building deconstruction and material reuse, our mission is to foster an inclusive circular economy in Hawai‘i.

We envision a future where waste reduction and the preservation of resources is maximized through deconstruction and building material reuse, allowing the circular economy to thrive.

Workforce Development

We create job pathways for people overcoming employment barriers

  • An employment social enterprise is a business that creates paid work and support opportunities for people facing employment barriers.

Employment = Paid work that provides income, skill development, and economic participation.'
Social = Centered on creating positive outcomes for people and communities.
Enterprise = A business or venture that generates revenue through the exchange of goods or services.

  • We aim to increase the ability of individuals to earn a living wage and accumulate generational wealth.

  • There is an increased economic contribution, reduced dependance on social services, and decreased costs of incarceration and recidivism.

Meet Our Team

Change doesn’t happen alone. Our directors, leaders, and sponsors each play a vital part in keeping materials out of landfills and in use across Hawaiʻi.

Support Reuse

Every year, 740,000 pounds of materials are kept out of Hawaiʻi’s landfills and given new purpose. Together, we’re protecting the environment, supporting local jobs, and building a more sustainable Hawaiʻi.

You can help keep that impact growing by donating materials, applying to a corporate sponsorhip, volunteering and more
